Kia Carnival is all set to launch on February 5 at the 2020 Auto Expo in the Indian market. The bookings for the MPV started on January 21, 2020 at a token amount of Rs 1 Lakh and now the company has announced that it has received a whooping 1410 pre-orders in a single day. For those asking, Kia Carnival will be offered across three seating configurations and three grades: Premium, Prestige and Limousine.
The South-Korean automaker revealed that Carnival’s range-topping Limousine variant has registered more than 64 percent of the total bookings. It can be availed only in a 7-seater avatar while the mid-variant Prestige is offered in seven and nine seat configurations, followed by the base Premium variant which will be available in seven and eight-seat layout. Kia Carnival would be packed with a lot of bells and whistles like dual panel electric sunroof, seats with integrated leg rests, and 10.1-inch dual touchscreen rear seat entertainment system.
The top-end Limousine trim will also get Kia’s UVO Connect connectivity suite with 37 connected car features. These features can also be explored and operated through a Smartwatch. Mechanically, it will be powered by a Kia BS6 certified 2.2L diesel engine which will generate maximum power output of 200bhp and peak torque performance of 440Nm. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Kia Carnival has no direct challenger in the Indian market but it presents itself as a more opulent alternative to Toyota Innova Crysta with expected prices starting at Rs 26 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
